For the second year in a row the NASCAR Cup Series will race in the Enjoy Illinois 300 presented by TicketSmarter at World Wide Technology Raceway (WWTR).

WWTR is in Madison, Illinois. That is located just across the river to the east of St. Louis. In fact, you can see the famous St. Louis skyline from the track. The track is also called Gateway Raceway as a result.

Last year, in the inaugural event, drivers found that it wasn’t as hard to pass as they had though. Although it wasn’t easy to pass either. There were 12 cautions last year and the race ended in a NASCAR Overtime of a green-white-checkered finish.

Here is what the drivers will be dealing with this weekend.

World Wide Technology Raceway Track Data
Track Size: 1.25-miles
Track Type: Paved asphalt oval
Banking in the Turns 1 & 2: 11 degrees
Banking in the Turns 3 & 4: 9 degrees

Enjoy Illinois 300 Data
Season Race #: 15 of 36 (06-04-23)
Stage 1 Length: 45 laps
Stage 2 Length: 95 laps
Final Stage Length: 100 laps
Race Length: 240 laps (300-miles)

Joey Logano is the only driver to have won a NASCAR Cup Series race at WWTR, since there has been only one held to date.

At last year’s event, some things happened on the track that created temper issues between drivers. Those issues could emerge again as the drivers try to figure out how to win on this newer track on the circuit.

There is room to get side-by-side two, three and at points four-wide. However, there is little room to recover from a mistake when racing that tight without collecting others in your mistake.

We will see how it all plays out Sunday, June 4th starting at 2:30p.m. central time (3:30p.m. eastern time) at World Wide Technology Raceway in the Enjoy Illinois 300 presented by TicketSmarter.
