Joey Logano Wins NASCAR’s Inaugural Enjoy Illinois 300 [VIDEO]

The Inaugural Enjoy Illinois 300 took place at World Wide Technology Raceway Sunday (6/5) and Joey Logano raced his way to the front in the end to win.

The first time the NASCAR Cup Series competed at the track called Gateway Raceway was an exciting event for fans to watch. There was plenty of action from start to finish it appeared. Many said it would be difficult to pass on this track. However, there was a lot of passing throughout the field it seemed.

There were some tire issues that caused problems for some drivers. There was on track issues that caused temper problems for other drivers.

Nine different drivers led the race with Kyle Busch leading a race high 66 laps. Austin Cindric was the winner of Stage One. Kurt Busch was the winner of Stage Two.

Following the race’s 12th and final caution period the green flag waived for a NASCAR overtime, green-white-checkered finish. Joey Logano was able to race out to the lead on that re-start. He held that lead for the final two laps to claim his second win of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season.

Kyle Busch took home a runner-up finish with Kurt Busch in third-place. Ryan Blaney and Aric Almirola rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth respectively. See the complete race results for the Enjoy Illinois 300 here.

Chase Elliott is the leader in the point standings following Sunday’s race. Kyle Busch is in second with Ross Chastain in third. Ryan Blaney holds fourth and Martin Truex Jr. rounds out the top five. See the complete NASCAR Cup Series Point Standings here.

The drivers hit the road course of Sonoma Raceway next in the Toyota/Save Mart 350 Sunday, June 12th.
