Martin Truex Jr. Finally Wins NASCAR Cup Race at New Hampshire [VIDEO]

The NASCAR Cup Series raced a day late at the Magic Mile after rain delayed Sunday’s (7/16) scheduled Crayon 301. Martin Truex Jr. finally found the magic on the mile at New Hampshire Motor Speedway Monday (7/17).

Prior to the running of the Crayon 301, Martin Truex Jr. was third on the all-time laps led at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Just behind Jeff Gordon (1st) and Tony Stewart (2nd). However, Martin had not been able to find a way to be in the lead crossing the finish line at a race in NASCAR’s top division.

Monday Martin started the race from the second position. He was able to take the lead on lap two. He dominated the race from that point forward. He won stage one and stage two of the race. He led the most laps with 254 laps as the leader. However, this race was different in one way.

Even with multiple caution periods near the end of the race, Martin was able to race out to the lead every time. He was able to keep that lead for the final 24 laps including the final lap to win his first ever NASCAR Cup Series race on the Magic Mile. It was his third win of the 2023 season and his 34th career win in the Cup Series.

Joey Logano was able to claim the runner-up finish. Kyle Larson took home third-place. See the complete race results for the Crayon 301 here.

The win propels Martin Truex Jr. back up a spot to regain the lead in the point standings. William Byron slips back to second. Christopher Bell moves up to third-place. See the complete NASCAR Cup Series Point Standings here.

Next the drivers and teams move to the Tricky Triangle of Pocono Raceway for the HighPoint.com 400 Sunday, July 23rd.
