Jackson Dean Would At least Check In When He Told His Mom ‘Don’t Come Lookin'”

Jackson Dean says his debut single, “Don’t Come Lookin’,” was inspired by what he used to say to his mom when he would leave the house as a kid to go spend time alone in the woods near their house. He would tell her if he didn’t come home, don’t come lookin’ for him because he just wants to be alone. It seems like most moms, if their kid said that, would tell them to stop talking crazy. However, Jackson says he wouldn’t stay gone too long, and he was never completely off the grid.

“I think it was like 48 hours or something like that, like when I was a kid, kid. But once I got to be a teenager, I’d go off for a couple days at a time, a week even, probably. I mean, when I really started going out there, I had a phone at that point, you know, and I could still check in every now and then. It’s not like, you know, goin’ and not being like, still alive. But I’d just go out there and be by myself. That’s really what it was about.”

“Don’t Come Lookin’” is currently in the top ten on the charts, and continuing its steady climb toward the top.
