Hunting season kicked of here in Illinois last Saturday, October 1st. Friday, September 30th Mackenzie Carpenter dropped her debut single that gives a new perspective on “Huntin’ Season.”

The new country music artist is a native of Athens, GA where hunting is a part of life for most people. Mackenzie’s song expresses a love of hunting season for completely different reasons than you might expect as she explained.

“‘Huntin’ Season’ is a brand-new perspective. It is what’s happening back home that nobody sees, nobody talks about. And maybe you see the picture of the 12-Point Buck on Instagram once it comes out, but you don’t know what’s happenin’ back at home. And you can relate to this if you are the hunter or if you are the stay-at-homer. And if you are the person that loves being back at home, even if you were originally sad that your significant other loves to hunt and is always gone, it’s like, let me help you realize this freedom that you have, and this time that you could be spending on yourself.”
