As if we needed another reason to love Keanu Reeves…

Keanu just donated 70% of his salary from The Matrix and donated it to Cancer research.

SEVENTY PERCENT!

Let’s break that down…Keanu was reportedly paid $45 million for the movie, and according to Lad Bible, donated a whopping $31.5 million of that to leukemia research.

Keanu is truly a saint.

The cause was and is near and dear to his heart, as his younger sister, Kim, battled the disease for 10 years, from 1991-2001. He has continued to give to cancer research and even started his own foundation. He secretly set up a nonprofit, which reportedly ran for years without any attention because he didn’t want the credit for all of the amazing things the foundation did.

That’s not all…Keanu at one point acknowledged one of the biggest rumors that he had given much of his profits from The Matrix to the production crew.

A big portion was given to the special effects and designer crews as part of his “back-end” deal where the actor made money from the profits of the movie. The actor cleared a whopping $75 million in profits from the films and from that he gave each member of the production crew $1 million. Given the fact that a lot of The Matrix is known for its cool effects and sleek costumes, this makes sense.

What’s even better is that Keanu is so humble about it.

“I’d rather people didn’t know that. It was something I could afford to do, a worthwhile thing to do,” he said.

If we could all live our lives like Keanu Reeves (and Betty White) the world would be a much better place.

I leave you with a video of Keanu playing with puppies.
