Sunday is the Fourth of July and Blake Shelton shares that he was obsessed with what they called “firecrackers” as a kid. His problem was making them last from his birthday to the holiday.

“Fourth of July when I was a kid was extremely important, big deal to me because the fireworks stands, or we called them firecracker. They always opened about four or five days before my birthday, my birthday is June the 18th, so they always opened a few days before that. And so I got tons of fireworks for my birthday which I loved and I would save. I would try to save the cool ones until the Fourth of July like the fountains, some of the bigger ones. Although by the time the fourth got there I’d be down to almost nothing. But, I was just obsessed with them.”

Blake is also obsessed with making country music. His latest single “Minimum Wage” remains in the top 10 this week on the country radio airplay singles charts. Listen for it on Bloomington-Normal’s #1 Country, B104.
