Justin Moore, Luke Combs and More Country Stars Talk Halloween and Costumes

Many country music stars will be doing what they can to celebrate Halloween this Saturday just like the rest of us this Saturday.

With the situation we are all dealing with it is likely to look different for most of us. However, Justin Moore says it won’t be all that different for his family.

“You know, where we’re from, we drive them around cause we don’t live in a neighborhood. We drive ’em to the people who we know, like my aunts and uncles and my parents and, you know, our family, our pastor. Usually we have a church hayride, so I’m sure it probably won’t change much for us. We’re kind of in our own little bubble in a sense in our town, and really the surrounding communities.”

Charles Kelley of Lady A has a costume he has always wanted for Halloween that he thinks would be hilarious for him to wear.

“I wanna be a banana. I think there’s something so funny and understated about a banana. Especially when you’re 6’6″ and like, your little head’s poppin’ through and you’re like, a banana.” (Dave Haywood) “Do they make ’em your size?” (Charles) “I’ve been known to sew a thing or two.” (Hillary Scott) “Really random.” (Charles) “I know. I’ve always wanted just like something just kind of funny, like a banana or like an apple.”

Luke Combs

Luke Combs used to wear costumes and go trick-or-treating on Halloween as a kid. However, it is very unlikely you will see him in a costume during the holiday now.

“I was probably a Power Ranger a lot growing up. Big Power Rangers guy. But now people always go, ‘Well, what are you … what is your costume?’ because I’ll show up like this. I go, ‘Well, I’m an adult because I’m 30 years old and it’s Halloween. That’s my costume this year.’ And I’ll just have a bowl of candy and I’ll go, ‘I’m an adult. I’m the guy answering the door for Halloween. That’s what I’m doing this year.’ [Laughs] I’m the Grinch of Halloween.”

Jordan Davis and his brother used to team up with their costumes on Halloween as children.

“I can remember being really big into Power Rangers. I always liked the Red Ranger. I remember being Red Ranger one Halloween. I remember me and my brother being big into the Ninja Turtles. I was Donatello one year, which I think was the purple turtle.”

Parker McCollum

Rising country music star Parker McCollum says there is a certain candy he has to be careful with around Halloween.

“What I can eat like 6,000 of are Tootsie Rolls. If I eat one Tootsie Roll, I’m gonna eat like 30. Man, they’re so good.”

Have a safe and happy Halloween from all of us at Bloomington-Normal’s #1 Country, B104!
