Retired Marine Phillip Blanks played wide receiver in college. However, I bet he never thought all those drills would be in preparation for this catch!

Phillip heard a lot of noise and went out to investigate. When he saw that an apartment near where he was staying with a friend was burning. He went toward the fire to see what he could do to help.

The 30-year-old woman who lived in the apartment threw her 3-year-old son from the third story balcony in an attempt to save him from the fire.

Drawing from his history playing football at Saddleback College, Phillip ran toward the falling child and dove to catch him. He literally made the catch of a lifetime! Phillip points to the mother who gave her life to save her children as the hero, not himself.
