NASA has announced plans that will see one lucky female astronaut take a walk on the moon.

The space agency has announced it plans to send a woman and a man to the moon by 2024.

This would be the first human landing on the moon in more than a half-century.

Did you know that only 12 humans, all male, have ever walked on the moon?

Will this landing carry the same anticipation as the first one in 1969? What does the fact that no woman has ever walked on the lunar surface mean for women in the space exploration field?
