Illinois' Minimum Wage Could Be Raised to $15

A bill to raise the minimum wage to $15 in Illinois could be introduced early next week.

Mystateline.com reports that Illinois Senator Kimberly Lightford (D-Maywood) plans to introduce the bill to raise the minimum wage early next week, although negotiations on the subject are ongoing.

The senator says the plan would be to phase the higher amount in over several years to allow businesses to adjust to the extra overhead.

Minimum wage was raised in Illinois to $8.25 an hour in 2010 where it remains to date. Governor J.B. Pritzker has already stated that he supports a wage increase.

Do you think the Illinois minimum wage should be increased?
