Kane Brown has scored his first number one with his latest single “What Ifs.”

The advanced release of the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase/Country Aircheck singles charts are out and “What Ifs” is in the #1 spot on both charts.

The song is from Kane’s debut self-titled studio album. Kane’s high school friend and fellow country music star Lauren Alaina (pictured on the right) is featured on the song. “What Ifs” is the first time Kane has reached the top spot on the country radio airplay charts and the second time for Lauren.

Lauren AlainaKane recalls writing the song and intermediately wanting to get Lauren to sing the song with him, “We didn’t really know what we were going to write that day. We just came up with ‘What Ifs’ asking about in relationships there’s always these questions asking ‘What if this? What if that?,’ we decided to make it into a song. It felt like a really good duet opportunity and I’ve always wanted my friend Lauren Alaina on it because we went to school together and we were in choir together and she’s the one that convinced me into singing. She’s really what motivated me to sing, coming in second on American Idol. It’s my most asked about song on the album.”

Last week “What If’s” knocked Sam Hunt’s song “Body Like A Back Road” out of the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. That chart ranks songs based on radio airplay, sales and digital streaming. Sam’s song spent a record shattering 34 weeks at the top of that chart.

I would bet that Kane if very happy they wrote the song, recorded it and released it as a single.

Congratulations to Kane Brown and Lauren Alaina on the number one song “What Ifs.”
