Little Big Town‘s Karen Fairchild threatened to cut off a certain part of Dustin Lynch‘s anatomy if he didn’t do a duet with her on his new album Current Mood!

Dustin is one of many country music acts that have either just released or will release a new album in the coming weeks and months. His third studio album will drop September 8th.

The album will feature his #1 debut single from the project “Seein’ Red” and his current top five single “Small Town Boy” that is climbing the charts. The album will also include a collaboration with Karen Fairchild among the 13 tunes on Current Mood.

Dustin and Karen got to know each other when he and Little Big Town were on Luke Bryan‘s “Kill The Lights Tour” together as opening acts.

Regarding the way the collaboration came to be … the story goes that Dustin didn’t actually ask Karen to record a song with him for the album. However, it has been reported that Karen threatened to … uhhh … shall we just say make him a “eunuch” if he didn’t duet with her for the project. At least that is the story as I heard it.

Why didn’t Dustin just ask Karen to sing with him on the album? “I wouldn’t ask because there’s way too much respect there,” he explains, “I just … she’s way out of my league that’s it. She’s that good and I respect her that much that I would never think that I deserve her vocal on my album.”

Luckily for us Karen felt strongly that Dustin DOES have what it takes to record with her. I can’t wait to find out what the song “Love Me or Leave Me Alone” by Dustin Lynch featuring Karen Fairchild sounds like when the album Current Mood is released.
