Dierks Bentley Warns of Danger of “Drunk Dialing” [VIDEO]

Dierks Bentley is gearing up to release a new single and the song “What The Hell Did I Say” warns people of the dangers of “drunk dialing.”

Dierks’ current #1 album Black has produced three consecutive number one singles (“Somewhere On A Beach,” “Different For Girls” with Elle King, “Black“). This next single could be a fourth chat topper from the album.

The lyrics of the song takes us through the process of what could be the result of “drunk dialing” somebody. The results could leave you asking the question, “What The Hell Did I Say.”

Dierks explains that even though he didn’t write the song he wanted it for his album, “‘What The Hell Did I Say’ is one of the first songs, that I heard that I didn’t write, that I fell in love with and knew I wanted it to be on this record.”

The songwriters Ross Copperman, Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins are people Direks has written with, “It’s actually written by two of the guys that I wrote ‘Drunk on a Plane’ [with]. They didn’t call me up, but they wrote it with my producer, Ross [Copperman], and they knew it’d be a great song for me and that I’d love it,” he shares.

Some people wold call this kind of song “ear candy” … in other words there is no real message in the song that people should take to heart. It’s a song that is just for the fun of it. Dierks believes that it is alright to have those kinds of songs on his projects.

“You know, I’ve learned over the years of making records that,” he confesses, “really in the last couple of years, it’s okay to have some of those fun songs on there.”

Dierks released a music video for the song last year as he prepared to release the album Black. You can watch the music video for “What The Hell Did I Say” by Dierks Bentley at the top of the page.

Look for Dierks out on the road with special guests Cole Swindell and Jon Pardi through September on the tour that gets its name from the new single … it’s the “What The Hell World Tour.”
