Blake Shelton’s String of Consecutive #1 Singles Ends

It appears that the historic string of back-to-back number one singles that Blake Shelton cranked out has come to an end.

The debut single “Came Here To Forget” from Blake’s latest #1 album If I’m Honest became Blake’s 22nd career #1 and his 17th chart topper in a row earlier this year. The follow-up single “She’s Got A Way With Words” does not look like it will follow suit.

Blake set the record for the most back-to-back #1 songs on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart in 2014 when “Doin’ What She Likes” reached the pinnacle of the chart. That was Blake’s 11th consecutive chart topper breaking Brad Paisley‘s record of 10 consecutive number ones set between 2005 to 2009.

Blake’s historic run of #1 singles began with “Hillbilly Bone” a collaboration with Trace Adkins on 2009 and as mentioned previously ends with this year’s chart topper “Came Here To Forget.”

The impressive run of number ones songs will likely hold the record for a while. I looked around and the most active back-to-back #1 songs currently are from Luke Bryan. Luke has a current string of eight consecutive chart topping singles. So, it will take some time to reach the high bar of 17 that Blake has set.

I have also seen a few different sources reporting that Blake’s record label is getting ready to send out the next single for the country music superstar. The reports indicate that the song “A Guy With A Girl” will be the new single. You can hear that song in the official audio video from Blake Shelton’s YouTube channel below.

Blake will be back on The Voice as the Blind Auditions continue on season 11 Monday, September 26th at 7 PM central time (8 PM eastern time) on NBC.

Congratulations to Blake Shelton on an impressive and historic run of #1 singles!
