The announcement of the nominees for the 50th ACM Awards had to be postponed due to the blizzard in the northeastern United States.

The list of nominees was scheduled to be revealed today. However, due to “unforeseen weather circumstances on the East Coast” the Academy of Country Music and CBS announced the announcement would be postponed until later this week according to The Wrap.

One can only guess that the stars that were scheduled to go to New York City to make the announcement on a CBS TV morning show were unable to get to the city due to the weather.

We did get the news that the show will be extended by a half-hour due to the milestone golden anniversary of the ACM Awards. The extra time will allow the show to honor seven superstars who have achieved significant milestones of their own in ACM history.

The voting for the semi-finalists in the New Artist of the Year category DID get underway today. You can vote now by clicking here.

Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan will again serve as co-hosts of the show as it airs live from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Sunday, April 19 on CBS TV starting at 7pm central time.
