Haley Hayes had her dream come true when she got to meet Carrie Underwood backstage at a concert.

Haley was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Pompe disease in 2006 when she was 10-years-old. The disorder disables the heart and skeletal muscles and is often fatal. Haley’s mom said that she was told that her daughter had an unknown life expectancy, but was told likely a year when she was first diagnosed. That was ten years ago which already makes Haley a miracle story.

With the help of local country singer Brittany Marie, Haley finally got to live her dream of meeting Carrie at her concert in Hampton, Virginia last Saturday (2/20).

In a blog on the Facebook page Helping Haley her mom stated, “Haley has been waiting for this moment for years.” She also pointed out that Haley, “has been singing Carrie’s songs since she was able to talk.”

The blog revealed that Haley and her mom not only got to take pictures with Carrie, but also talked with her for a little while about Carrie’s son, Isaiah, the night’s upcoming concert and where she’s headed to next on tour. Carrie signed Haley’s autograph book and agreed to tell Sam Hunt (whom Haley had met previously) “hi” for her when the two singers head to the U.K. together for some concerts.
