Bad news for millions of student loan borrowers in the US, your temporary financial break is coming to an end.
While many of us have been wanting things to return to normal, that could mean you need to prepare to shell out the money.
Starting in January, an estimated 37 million Americans will have to start making those monthly student loan payments again.
Many lenders put payments on hold back in March because of the pandemic, but lenders are preparing to resume loan payments in January.
Want the good news?
The good news is borrowers won’t have to make up the interest payments missed over the past 9 months. In addition to pausing monthly payments, the Department of Education also stopped interest from accruing during the down time and stopped collecting on defaulted federal loans.
So, don’t be surprised when that money starts coming out of your account again in January.
