Yesterday (7/11) some storm cells moved through central Illinois after they were in Iowa. Check out this amazing video of a tornado that these storm cells produced in eastern Iowa.
The storms that moved through our area damaged a home in Nokomis, IL, damaged trees and knocked out power to thousands in Champaign and Vermilion counties.
Before reaching our area the storm cells produced a tornado in Conroy, Iowa. The town is about 85 miles west of the Illinois-Iowa state line on Interstate 80. The Iowa Storm Chasing Network posted an amazing video of the tornado that you can watch below.
It is incredible how close to homes the twister got without actually hitting them. You can see the power of the tornado at about the 1:20 mark of the video as it rips trees out of the ground and launches them into the air.
It is pretty amazing to see the power that Mother Nature has. I have not heard of any major damage caused by this tornado in Iowa nor any people hurt by it. I pray that is because neither happened.
