Google employees will continue to work from home because of COVID-19.
Many Google staffers will not be returning to the office anytime soon. The company just announced remote working will continue through at least the Summer of 2021.
Previously, the company had set a return to the office as the end of 2020 for most employees, with some being allowed back into their offices sooner.
But the decision to extend remote working through next summer comes in light of the uncertainty around the pandemic and the numbers going back up.
Since one of the world’s largest tech companies seems to be bracing for a long pandemic, could other businesses follow suit?
In a memo to employees, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said he wanted to give employees a heads up…
“To give employees the ability to plan ahead, we’ll be extending our global voluntary work from home option through June 30, 2021 for roles that don’t need to be in the office,” Pichai wrote. “I hope this will offer the flexibility you need to balance work with taking care of yourselves and your loved ones over the next 12 months.”
Are you still working from home? Do you think your office will ever reopen fully?
