No, you can’t use Tito’s vodka to make hand sanitizer. If you’ve been using it to DIY and keep the sickies away, you can stop right now.

With the coronavirus outbreak on everyone’s mind, panic has taken over many states in the US, and people are stocking up on supplies like food and water, alcohol wipes and hand sanitizer. Unfortunately that means a shortage in stores, and in some cases, people are jacking up the price.
So, many people have resulted to DIY solutions for getting their sanitization need met and are making homeade hand sanitizer. It’s only 2 ingredients, alcohol and aloe vera gel, and even I found a super easy video on YouTube showing me how
However, rubbing alcohol has also been hard to find in certain areas, so many people have resorted to…you guessed it…vodka!
Because of this, Tito’s vodka has released a warning to the public to STOP IT!
They say vodka is not for your hands, it’s for your mouth, and delicious drinks, and should not be wasted on DIY hand sanitizer because it won’t work anyway.
“Per the CDC, hand sanitizer needs to contain at least 60% alcohol,” Tito’s statement reads. “Tito’s Handmade Vodka is 40% alcohol, and therefore does not meet the current recommendation of the CDC.”
Health officials are recommending “vigorous” hand washing as the best way to avoid the virus, that means using soap and warm water and scrubbing the palms, backs of hands, and under the nails for at least 20 seconds. It’s also extremely important to cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough. If you can, use your forearm instead of your hand, and definitely avoid touching your face.

Bottom line, Tito’s vodka isn’t strong enough to make hand sanitizer, but what about Everclear?
