You are Invited to Special Olympics of Illinois Summer Games Opening Ceremony Tonight

Special Olympics athletes lighting the Flame of Hope at the Summer Games Opening Ceremony

The 2019 Special Olympics of Illinois Summer Games Opening Ceremony is tonight (6/7) at ISU‘s Hancock Stadium and you are invited to attend!

The Opening Ceremony is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Hancock Stadium. There will be some great entertainment on the field during the event for you to enjoy.

You will see the Parade of Athletes as representatives from the agencies (selected athletes and coaches) parade into the stadium in the best of Olympic tradition.

The ceremony is capped off with the final leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Illinois law enforcement officers pair with athletes to carry the torch along its final route. The Torch Run culminates with the lighting of the cauldron holding the Flame of Hope to kick off the Special Olympics of Illinois Summer Games!

I will be one of your emcees helping out from the stage for the ceremony. I personally invite you to come see these amazing athletes that epitomize the true meaning of good sportsmanship.
