The advanced country airplay charts are out and LANCO and Chris Janson can give thanks this week for number one songs!
The advanced release of the Billboard Country Airplay chart shows the group LANCO has scored the first #1 single of their career. The five-man band sits in the #1 spot on that chart this week with their song “Greatest Love Story” from their four-song EP titled Extended Play.
LANCO’s lead vocalist Brandon Lancaster talks about their number one song, “Through the years of us playing and recording it, it’s pretty much pretty much the same as when we played it that first night of rehearsal. I just think that’s a testament to the song itself. It’s kind of taken on a life of its own, like we get comments on social media ll of the time of people saying, ‘That’s my story. That’s mine and my boyfriend’s story, my girlfriend’s story, my wife’s story …’ That’s really special to us to know that it’s resonating with so many people. People are using it for their wedding song, which is awesome.”
The advanced Mediabase/Country Aircheck chart has Chris Janson in the #1 position with his latest single “Fix A Drink.” This is the second time that Chris has topped this chart in his career with the first time being with his song “Buy Me A Boat.” Chris’ latest #1 single is from his second studio album titled Everybody.
Chris explains why he wrote his current chart topping song, “I write songs to entertain people, I write songs to be able to put your hands up at a concert. And that’s really the premise behind where I wake up in the middle of the day; or in the morning, excuse me, and start writing songs like ‘Fix a Drink,’ singing songs like ‘Fix a Drink.’ Why do I want to do ’em? People generally like to have a good time, and that’s my way of sharing my good time. I mean, that’s all I do is music … I write it, I sing it … and ‘Fix a Drink,’ I think, epitomizes that pretty good.”
