Old Dominion has taken their latest single “Song For Another Time” to the #1 spot on the country singles charts for radio airplay for this week.
The advanced Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase/Country Aircheck singles charts were released and sitting at number one on both charts for this week is Old Dominion’s “Song For Another Time.”
The song is from the reigning ACM New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year‘s album Meat And Candy that is available in music stores and digitally everywhere now.
However, the song was almost not part of the group’s album. “We wrote that after we thought we were done with the album, and we actually were kind of pitching it to a couple different artists to see if they would cut it,” explains Old Dominion’s Matthew Ramsey. He continued, “The more people passed on it the more we were like I’m kind of glad they passed on that because we were falling more and more in love with the song.”
The group decided the song had to be on their new album even though it meant another song would be bumped off the project. Matthew said the group, “made a special trip home to record that one song and make sure it was on there.”
I’m sure the group’s record label RCA Nashville and the Old Dominion fans are glad none of the artists they pitched the song to chose to record it and the group made the special trip to record it themselves since it is the group’s second #1 song as of this week. Their first chart topper was the song “Break Up With Him.”
Don’t forget that Old Dominion will be at the Limelight Eventplex in Peoria, IL February 11, 2017. Get all the concert and ticket details here.
Congratulations to Old Dominion on “Song For Another Time” being the #1 song in the nation this week!
