Summer is a crucial time of year for the nation’s blood supply. As individuals and families pack their schedules full of fun seasonal activities, less time is set aside for blood donations. But as the summer winds down, eligible donors in the Bloomington-Normal area have the opportunity to join up with local heroes to help save lives this season.
The 17th annual Badges for Life Blood Donation Campaign kicks-off on Aug. 24 and encourages the community to partner with local law enforcement and fire departments to help ensure blood products are available for patients in need.
Radio Bloomington’s WBNQ 101.5 FM, WJBC AM 1230 and FM 93.7, and B104 104.1 FM are serving as the campaign’s media sponsors. As a thank you for rolling up a sleeve, everyone who comes to donate during the campaign will receive free Monical’s pizza and a Red Cross T-shirt, while supplies last.
