Crowds gathered at Gobbler’s Knob for Groundhogs Day 2024 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. They wanted to find out what prediction would be made by the world’s most famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil.

For the 138th time Phil was wakened from his winter hibernation in his cozy stump to make his prediction about the arrival of spring. Local lore holds that if Phil sees his shadow and returns to his stump, six more weeks of winter are on the way. Should he not see a shadow, that would indicate an early spring.

The estimated 45,000 people cheered with excitement as Phil’s handlers announced there was no shadow and a prediction of an early spring this year!

You can watch the video of the morning events from Gobbler’s Knob below. The prediction of the early spring starts at about the 1 hour and 56 minute mark in the video. You can read the entire proclamation from The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club at their website here.
