Grammy’s Snub Country Music in All-Genre Categories

Last Friday (11/10) the 2024 Grammy Nominations were announced. Once again, the Grammy’s prove to be tone deaf when it comes to country music.

Despite having a record-breaking year, country music was all but absent from the all-genre categories. In a year that saw Morgan Wallen spend 16 weeks at the top of the Billboard All-Genre Chart with his song “Last Night,” Morgan nor the song was not nominated in any of the all-genre categories. In fact, Morgan HIMSELF didn’t get ANY nominations. The song’s writers were nominated, but not Morgan.

Luke Combs spent eight weeks at number two on the Hot 100 chart with his version of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car.” Again, no nominations for Luke or the song in the all-genre categories.

There are more examples from Jason Aldean’s “Try That In A Small Town” to Oliver Anthony’s “Rich Men North of Richmond” to a massive year by Lainey Wilson and more.

The only nods country music got in the all-genre categories was Jelly Roll and country/Americana duo The War and Treaty being nominated in the all-genre Best New Artist category.

If the Grammy’s want to pull viewers from what is one of the biggest audiences in the United States, the country music fans, they had better start showing the genre the respect it deserves if you ask me.

But that’s just my opinion.
