The first day of school is now just weeks, if not days away for most. That means parents are preparing for the chaotic mornings of getting the kids up, ready and out the door for school.

The extra stress is also felt by teachers according to a recent poll. The poll asked both parents and teachers what their first thought is on school days? The most common answer for both was, “I have SO much to do today.”

The poll also found that parents and teaches feel like they don’t always get enough sleep during the school year. They also lack in the “me time” when school is in session. The average time a parent gets to themselves at the end of the day is 1 hour and 16 minutes. For teachers it is just under that at 1 hour and 12 minutes.

The poll also found out the most common mistakes parents make while getting the kids ready for school each morning. See if you agree with the top five for your mental slips on school mornings.

  1. Forgetting to pack them a lunch.
  2. Oversleeping and running late.
  3. Forgetting to feed them breakfast.
  4. Dressing them in a mismatched outfit.
  5. Giving them the wrong lunch.
(Perhaps instead of their Lunchables and juice box, they got your tuna salad sandwich and White Claw.)
