There are sounds associated to cooking that can perk you up. These sounds can even be satisfying because you know that they mean you will likely be enjoying something delicious soon.

A recent survey of 2,000 people asked what was the “most satisfying food sound” for them to hear. Here are the top 10 food sounds that made them happy.

1. Bacon Sizzling (33%)
2. Slicing a crusty loaf of bread (26%)
3. Steak sizzling in a pan (25%)
4. Butter being spread on toast (17%)
5. The snapping of a chocolate bar (16%)
6. French fries frying (16%)
7. The first bite into a crisp apple (16%)
8. Popping popcorn (13%)
9. The rustling of a snack or potato chip bag (10%)
10. Stir frying vegetables (9%)

I would venture to say that the results are also influenced by two additional factors: (1) the smell that accompanies the sound and (2) the level of enjoyment of eating the specific food.

I would agree with number one on the list. However, for me steak sizzling would be number two on my list.
