Do We Need the New People’s Choice Country Awards?

There will be a new country music awards show this fall, the People’s Choice Country Awards. The question is, do we need it?

We already have the ACM Awards, the CMA Awards and the CMT Music Awards. There have been attempts to add more country music award shows in the past that have not really panned out.

The first-ever People’s Choice Country Awards will be held held in Nashville this September. Billboard reports the two-hour event will air live on NBC and Peacock.

Cassandra Tryon, Senior Vice President of Live Events for NBCUniversal Television & Streaming said, “We’re excited to partner with the Grand Ole Opry to bring the year’s biggest celebration in country music to Nashville. Country fans are passionate about their music and there’s no better place to host this event than from country music’s biggest stage.”

This new awards show will allow a deeper dive into country music than the all-genre People’s Choice Awards. That show includes some country performances and a country music award.

Do you think we need the new People’s Choice Country Awards?
