Blake Shelton Reveals Jimmy Buffett Actually Wrote “Barmageddon”

The voice behind the theme song for the USA Network series Barmageddon is Blake Shelton, but it turns out he didn’t write the song.

Blake told USA Insider that he first asked Jimmy Buffett for permission to borrow “Margaritaville” as one of the opening songs to the show. However, Jimmy was so taken by the term “Barmageddon” that he decided to write an entirely new song based on the word.

“I committed to recording this song before I ever heard it. I figured Jimmy Buffett can pull this off. If anybody in the world can, it’s got to be Jimmy Buffett,” Blake said.

Nikki Bella hosts Barmageddon, a new reality competition show produced by Blake and Carson Daly. Carson is the bartender, and Blake leads the house band in each episode. Blake’s “Ol Red”-themed Nashville Bar is the venue for the show. The show airs on USA Network Monday nights at 10 p.m. central time (11 p.m. eastern time).
