On Saturday (Dec. 4), George Strait performed the second of back-to-back Strait to Vegas residency dates, but he was also celebrating something very special on his personal calendar…his 50th wedding anniversary!

George and his wife Norma have been married for 50 years. George knows how special their love is, so he made sure to pay tribute to his wife on stage, and yes he did it in front of thousands or people.

George started by reminiscing how he met his beautiful wife, “So I was 19 years old … and I knew this girl, Norma. She was 17, really hot,” as George paused, Norma was in the audience hearing him share the story with thousands of strangers. As the crowd cheered he continued, “We went to Mexico and eloped … 50 years ago today.” The crowd erupted into applause for the couple in love, and George went on to dedicate one of his most romantic love ballads of all time.
