Dolly Parton Decided to Be Herself on Remake of “Does He Love You” with Reba

Dolly Parton says she was a bit nervous about sounding similar to Linda Davis on the remake of “Does He Love You” with Reba McEntire.

Linda was Reba’s collaborator on the original, number one version of the song in 1993. However, when Reba sent her part of the new version to Dolly, the country music legend realized she just had to sound like herself.

Dolly: “I love Reba, and I love the song and I thought well I’m not supposed to sound like anybody else anyway so … And Reba and I have such similar feelings in our voices … And I’ve always thought we’d sing great together, so when I heard her singing, I said, I think I could do this!”
Reba: (laugh)
Dolly: “I was very moved by her vocal, so I seem to know kind of what to do. But when it was all put together I thought this is really good.”
Reba: “It’s great”
Dolly: “Yeah, I was real happy with it.”
Reba: “Me too! I was thrilled to pieces.”

The new version of the song by the two country music Icons can be found on the new Revived, Remixed, Revisited box set from Reba available everywhere now.

Which version of “Does He Love You” do you like better, the original with Reba and Linda or the new version with Dolly?
