Brett Young has some special skills. Yes, he can sing, but there’s something else. Brett can anticipate what his wife Taylor needs when it comes to her being a mom.

“I think what I’ve realized, like the best ‘dadding,’ is to be able to identify mom’s needs without her having to tell you. Because they’re gonna take the brunt of it, especially at this age. Like, the baby needs mom all the time, so trying to figure out where you can insert yourself and help without getting to the point where she’s like, ‘AAGGHH! Help me!’ So, I think at the beginning, it was like taking out the trash or doing the dishes, the things that I would normally do, but just making sure like there wasn’t ever a dish in the sink or the trash never got half full, or things like that. And now I think I’ve been able to watch Taylor be a mom long enough to know what she needs before she needs it. And so, I think that the skill set that I’ve kind of honed in on the most is being able to read Taylor and make sure she has what she needs from me before she has to ask me for it.”

Brett and Taylor recently welcomed home their second daughter Rowan Marie, who joins big sister Presley.

Brett’s latest #1 song is one he wrote for his first daughter about his wife titled “Lady.” Listen for the song on Bloomington-Normal’s #1 Country, B104.

What is something your husband did that helped you out greatly as a mom?
