Old Dominion’s Matthew Ramsey is recovering from a serious trip to the hospital after falling off a ladder at his home in Nashville, but leave it to Matthew to make the jokes at his own expense.

Monday night (May10th), Matthew fell off a ladder at his home in Nashville which resulted in some pretty serious injuries. Matthew not only suffered some minor scrapes and bruises, but a broken rib AND a collapsed lung!

WOAH!

Good news is, his humor wasn’t injured in the fall at all. In fact, Matthew came to fans with all the jokes when he filled us in on what happened on social media.

“How many OD members does it take to change a lightbulb? Well, after a broken rib, collapsed lung and various scrapes and bruises, I found out the answer was, ‘More than one,'” Matthew joked from his hospital bed.

Matthew assured fans he was ok and gave a warning about using a ladder by yourself, “Back home and recovering now with all the fun pills. be careful out there and get someone to hold your ladder.”

Once Matthew got home from the hospital, he and the guys got together on YouTube LIVE yesterday (5/11) to talk about the ladder accident and whether he will be recovered in time for their tour in a few weeks.

Matthew’s accident didn’t come at the greatest time, just a week after Old Dominion’s first post-pandemic, in person show in Florida. Kenny Chesney even showed up to surprise them that night.

Hopefully Matthew will be fully recovered for their next show which is scheduled for May 27th in Oklahoma. I’m not sure how quickly broken ribs and a collapsed lung take to heal though, so keep Matthew in your thoughts and prayers.
