A touching video, which has now gone viral, shows a former ballet dancer afflicted with memory loss gracefully dancing as she hears the music from Swan Lake.

The video was recently shared by the Asociación Música para Despertar, a Spanish organization that promotes music therapy for those afflicted by memory loss, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Since then, people all over the world have shared their love for this sweet woman named Marta Gonzalez.

You can see in the video that the music transports her back to a time when she was a young ballerina dancing on stage. Her arms and head still move gracefully, only now instead of performing on stage, she sits in a wheelchair. You can FEEL the power of music and dance, as she listens to the music from the famed ballet and her body takes over remembering the movements from long ago.

Marta has since passed, but I am so glad we get to witness the powerful, and emotional effect music can have on the body and mind, despite the effects of Alzheimer’s disease.
