Darius Rucker Says Toughest Part of Quarantine is “Not Knowing”

Singer-songwriter Darius Rucker is frustrated over the quarantine situation just like most everybody else.

He says the toughest part for him is not having a set date when he can get back to his life on the road.

“Even if you were off for a month or two months, you always had that date where you know you were gonna start playing shows again, and not having that is tough.”

Darius finds the at-home life a challenge to deal with. However, he has focused on another part of his career for some relief from the day-to-day doldrums.

“Being home and having to deal with life; you know, like everybody else … you find a little bit of depression in everything. But, I have songwriting to keep me going.”

Darius says another thing that has really helped him keep his sanity during this time has been the ability to still play golf.

“You know, having golf kind of helped me, too. I’m not gonna lie to anybody – if they had shut the golf courses down, I’d probably be in a home right now, [Darius laughs] but, uh, they didn’t, so it was cool.”

While the whole situation has been tough for us all, Darius does see some positive coming out of the quarantine.

“You see a lot of great art coming out of it. I love the songs that are coming out of it for me, and, you know … I’m closer to my kids, especially with my son – we’re closer than we’ve ever been.”

Sounds like Darius is ready to live out the line from his latest single that states, “the only BS I need is beers and sunshine.” The song is titled “Beer and Sunshine” and you can hear it on Bloomington-Normal’s #1 Country, B104.

What has been the toughest part of quarantine for you? What is a positive that has come out of it for you?
