A new study conducted by Spotify with the help of a new technology that helps ‘personalize user experience’ by changing the tone of voice used in spoken messages delivered within the service.

5,808 volunteers took a personality test that rates openness, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness, and emotional stability. The test rated people who listened to country music as more outgoing, while those who enjoy Blues are more emotionally stable.

If you’re into Punk music, you’re more than likely to be more anti-social and emotionally unstable then fans of other genres.

Fans of soul music are more open and conscious. Knowing the personality of its audience helps Spotify to tailor the listening experience to the individual music lover. If someone is more extroverted, the tone of spoken word within the app is more high-pitched and exciting.

The full study was published in the journal Social Psychological and Personality Science.

Can you guess what type of music someone listens to based on their personality?
