The 2020 hurricane season broke yet another record this week when Beta made landfall in Texas.
It was the ninth named storm to make landfall in the U.S. this year. That hasn’t happened since 1916, more than a century ago – and there are still two months left in the season.
The 2020 season has already burned through all its hurricane names, which is why this latest storm is named Beta – after all the names are used, storms are named after letters in the Greek alphabet.
