Former CMA Entertainer of the Year Award (EOTY) winner Luke Bryan is weighing in on Garth Brooks withdrawing his name from future EOTY consideration. He also shares the name she thinks of when thinking about the award.
Garth has won the coveted award a record seven times. He recently announced he did not wish to be considered for the award anymore in the future. Luke Bryan states that he can understand where Garth is coming from with the decision.
“You know, I think maybe in Garth’s mind he probably could be taking people’s slots. And, you know, how long do you want to do that. I mean, do I … If one day I’m really good at winning Album of the Years and I just keep winning Album of the Years, and then I don’t necessarily know if my album is the best. I’m just good at winning them. I mean, I don’t know, should you move over and let other people … I mean, it’s a tricky … it’s a tricky little thing.”
Luke also shared who he thinks of when it comes to the EOTY award.
“My thought is, if we go for a long period of time and Carrie Underwood never wins a CMA Entertainer of the Year, that’s quite disturbing for me because she’s definitely done everything you can do to win it in my opinion – and that goes for Eric Church.”
