NORMAL – Looting and riots continued Sunday night and into the morning hours across the country, including right here in Bloomington-Normal.

The Target in Normal was broken into early Monday morning after a large group of rioters gathered and Normal Police had to evacuate the scene.

Jack Patterson, 19, witnessed the looting from the back of the parking lot. He told WJBC’s Scott Miller the mayhem lasted for about 30 minutes before things started to calm down.

“As it started to calm down I got closer to the store and started talking to people about how crazy this is,” said Patterson. “I then noticed a group of guys up front who started to grab brooms and trash cans and started cleaning.”

Some of the merchandise stolen included television sets, various clothing items, and most of the department’s tech section was damaged.
