Singer-songwriter Thomas Rhett (TR) says his latest #1 single “Beer Can’t Fix” began as a joke on the golf course.

TR co-wrote the song with Julian Bunetta, Ryan Tedder and Zach Skelton. However, he says the song originated with events as he played golf with a friend.

“‘Beer Can’t Fix,’ literally stemmed from a joke that was made on a golf course,” TR states. “We were playing golf and we were just doing terrible.”

TR explains they agreed on a funny solution to their terrible performance on the golf course.

“We just decided to grab a beer and see how we played after that … and we both started playing a lot better after that.”

Apparently that development got TR thinking about other situations that beer could help improve.

“There’s a couple of situations in life where beer just makes experiences better, golf and fishin’ being two of those,” TR says.

TR recorded the song as a collaboration with Jon Pardi. Many other people must have come to the same realization since “Beer Can’t Fix” became the 15th career number one song for TR.
