Sure, the internet is full of recipes on how to just make your own bottle, but it’s probably not a good idea.

Lifehacker points out that there are no guarantees the home-brew concoction will actually be effective. You’re putting a lot of faith into getting the ratios right, as well as using the proper ingredients.

Meanwhile, the commercial hand sanitizers contain moisturizers that the companies spent extensive time developing to work with the alcohol. Your version will likely just dry out your skin.

Washing your hands with soap and water by massaging the soap on your hands for at least 20 seconds will likely be more effective than homemade hand sanitizer.
