
The totals are in: In its first five days of marijuana sales, Illinois has raked in more than $10 million.
The dollar amount, which represents about 271,000 transactions that averaged $40 each, blows away Michigan’s totals. The neighboring state, in which weed became legal on December 1st, took in $3.1 million in its first two weeks. Illinois made more than that its first day.
Illinois, the 11th state to legalize recreational marijuana, has earmarked the earnings to support several state programs.
