Spoiler Alert In Effect

When we see Thor in ‘Avengers: Endgame’, things have changed.

No longer is he the strong, muscular, and charismatic character from previous films. He is dealing with ultimate failure and has dived into a deep depression. He stays home and only leaves to replenish the beer kegs he has gone through. While at times, “Fat Thor” is used as a punchline in the film, the character is a sad one.

So how did actor Chris Hemsworth get into character? Singing the saddest song of all time, Johnny Cash’s cover of ‘Hurt’.

Is Hemsworth joking around a little bit here? Sure. However, there are some parallels between what Thor is going through and the lyrics of the song. Thankfully, and in large part thanks to his Mother, Thor discovers in the movie that he is still worthy of being a hero we look up to.
