Florida Georgia Line & Bebe Rexha’s “Meant to Be” Earns Nomination for Best Collaboration at MTV Video Music Awards

Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line earned a 2018 MTV Video Music Awards nomination for Best Collaboration for their joint effort with Bebe Rexha on “Meant to Be.”

FGL and Bebe face off against five other collaborative nominees, including Bruno Mars/Cardi B (“Finesse”), The Carters (“APES**T”), Jennifer Lopez/DJ Khaled/Cardi B (“Dinero”), Logic/Alessia Cara/Khalid (“1-800-273-8255”) and N.E.R.D/Rihanna (“Lemon”). Voting is now open. The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards take place on Aug. 20 in New York City.

“Meant to Be,” which as was co-penned by Bebe Rexha, Josh Miller, David Garcia and FGL’s Tyler Hubbard, ascended to the top of both the Billboard Country Airplay chart and the Mediabase chart in April.

“From day one, this song was just meant to be,” says Tyler. “Bebe jumped in on a canceled writing session last minute and now it’s going down in history.”

The tune has also resided atop the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for 33 weeks, which is the second longest reign in the 59-year history of the chart, behind only Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road” (34 weeks).

“It’s been nothing but good vibes to see it take off and inspire,” says Brian. “Its message is a positive one and [that’s] why I think it’s connecting with those who hear it. We can’t thank country radio enough for all of the support.”

In the only other country-related nominee from the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards, “Say Something” by Justin Timberlake featuring Chris Stapleton earned a Best Direction (Arturo Perez Jr) nomination.
