Thomas Rhett‘s latest single “Life Changes” is his most personal song ever according to the singer-songwriter.

The song is the title track from Thomas Rhett’s latest #1 album, available everywhere now. It is also where his current tour got its name. That should be enough to reveal the song is an important one for the country music star.

However, Thomas Rhett explains how his personal life is what sculpted the song itself.

“We adopted Willa and halfway through that Lauren got pregnant,” he shares. “It’s just so many crazy things that we kind of just followed our gut and tried to do, I guess, what was the right thing in that moment and it led us to where we are now.”

When you listen to the lyrics of the song, it lays out some of the biggest moments in the 28-year-old’s life. That is the obvious reason that this song is so personal to him.

“[It’s] definitely one of my favorite songs to write and definitely probably the most personal song that I have allowed people to listen to,” Thomas Rhett confesses.

Two other songs from Thomas Rhett’s Life Changes album has him nominated for three awards at tonight’s 2018 CMT Music Awards. “Marry Me” is up for both Male Video of the Year and Video of the Year while his song with Maren Morris titled “Craving You” is up for Collaborative Video of the Year.

It was also announced that Thomas Rhett will return along with Kelsea Ballerini as the co-hosts for the CMA Music Fest TV special later this summer.
