Dierks Bentley apparently lives by the thought, “I don’t have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun you!”

Last August Dierks and his friend, former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning were on a fishing trip in Canada when a situation took place that left the country singer-songwriter with a decision to make.

“I was fishing with Peyton [in] this amazing spot where you … you helicopter in to this desolate part of British Columbia,” Dierks shares with Westwood One’s Country Countdown USA.

This is where the situation that required a decision by Dierks. “This mama grizzly came cruisin’ along with three cubs behind,” he explains, “I’m kinda like moving back towards the chopper just to have something to kind of be close to.”

So what of his friend? “Peyton’s out there doesn’t even see it,” Dierks confesses.

Dierks posted the message on Twitter, “should i inform peyton manning of the mama bear and her three cubs approaching from behind? or let him enjoy his moment” along with the picture below where you can see the bears in the background. (I have circled them in the picture to be sure you see them.)

I’m sure that Direks would have warned Peyton if the bears were closer … at least I think he would have. Just remind me to never go fishing with Dierks in areas where there are bears. He’s in better shape than me and can outrun me.
