Blake Shelton has been busy recording the first rounds of season 13 of The Voice and serving as mentor for Team Blake are the members of Rascal Flatts.
For the thirteenth consecutive season Blake and Adam Levine will return to their big red chairs on the award winning TV competition. Returning this season as a coach is Miley Cyrus and joining the show this season is first-time coach Jennifer Hudson.
What does Blake think about the competition the other coaches will present this season?
“You know, when I think of the other coaches and this season, it’s going to be some of what we have seen before with Adam and his ego,” Blake told EXTRA about his good friend and on screen adversary.
What about Miley? “And then we have Miley who’s a returning coach, who is … she’s changed, she’s turned a dial. I mean, she’s talking about that in her interviews and stuff. She’s kind of turned a corner and now she’s…she’s country … Miley’s country now and that’s an insult to me and I take it personally, and so she’s on my hit list.”
The wild card for Blake could be the first time coach, “The jury’s out on Jennifer so far. She’s a sweet person, I like her a lot, but that doesn’t matter … she is also my competition, and forget her,” he said.
Joining Blake this season to mentor Team Blake are Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney of Rascal Flatts. Gary talked with EXTRA about working with the winning-est coach and his team on The Voice, “You know, Blake asked us to come out and help mentor, you know, some of his contestants, so it’s just been fun working with them. And, Blake’s got such a great ear turning his chair around and finding great people, so it’s been awesome meeting them and giving them some pointers, some tips. It’s been a lot of fun working with him. A lot of talent, a lot of talent on team Blake.”
The trio shared the picture below of themselves with Blake on the set of the show on their Instagram account…
I can’t wait to see how it all plays out and what new artists are discovered when The Voice Season 13 premiers September 25 on NBC TV.
