Where there’s a will, there’s a way! Ronald Blalock of LeRoy REALLY needed to make it to court yesterday because he had already missed a series of court appearances. But he didn’t have a license (which is why he had to go to court), he didn’t have family that lived in the area to take him, and his friends all had to work….SO, Ronald did the only thing he could, he traveled on horseback from LeRoy to Decatur on his trusty horse Rooster.
As you can imagine, he had to leave rather early to make it in time, so they left Wednesday at about 11:30am, made a pit stop to rest in Forsyth at about 10pm that night, and got up the next morning to finish their travels. Of course the journey couldn’t go entirely smooth, because what’s an amazing story like this without some heavy rain and lightning.
But eventually Ronald and Rooster made it to the courthouse in downtown Decatur. He wasn’t sure if he was going to be welcomed with friendly faces, or get a warm reception, but everyone in the courthouse seemed to just be impressed that he showed up.
While Ronald stood in front of the judge, Rooster gained some attention on the lawn outside the courthouse, tied to a tree, enjoying a shady spot and munching on some grass.
When asked if anyone was surprised by the site on the courthouse lawn, many curious staffers said they were enjoying the interesting morning, but they were also impressed by Ronald. He thought outside the box to get to court and can be a lesson to many others, as it was remarked by many that some guys who live two blocks away can’t even seem to make it to their court dates.
Way to go Ronald! Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do!
